About Us

Ramp Surface Coatings Ltd is a supplier of choice for aircraft ground support equipment, specialising in surface coatings and metal treatments.

We are an approved supplier to many well known companies in the industry such as Leonardo-Finmeccanica, Honeywell, Thales as well as the Ministry of Defence.

We have our own in-house paint facility accredited to Nadcap and AS91W standards and have significant experience of managing paint facilities at customer premises.

We have recently established our own in-house metal treatments facility. It is already both AS9100 and Nadcap accredited, providing a high quality service for chromic anodising and alochroming treatments to our customers and their supply chains.

Our History

Ramp Surface Coatings became a Division of Ramp Industries in 1999 and quickly became accredited to coat Flying parts, This resulted in RSC becoming an early UK supplier to hold the prestigious NADCAP Approval for their services.

In 2016, the coatings and metal treatment arm of Ramp Industries Ltd was acquired by Ramp Surface Coatings Ltd, which was in turn acquired by Cyrus Investment Management LLP (CIM).

Ian Watkins, Chief Investment Officer of Cyrus Investment Management, commented on the acquisition: ”We are absolutely delighted to pick up this high quality company and believe it will fit perfectly as a Cyrus investee company. Customers are already increasing their orders with Cyrus companies because they know we now have in-house coating and treatment capabilities meaning faster turn around times and tighter supply chain control.”

100% of Ramp’s labour force was retained and CIM aims to expand the business’s loyal customer base through the injection of new capital, products, and senior management. Derek Smith, the founder of the coatings division, now joins Ramp Surface Coatings Ltd as Operations Director.

RSC is proud to remain pro-active with UK primes, we are constantly offering solutions due to obsolescence, and are pleased that as an SME we have the expertise to offer a service of this calibre. Primes no longer have the material laboratory support to deal with product obsolescence and are relying on the supply chain knowledge to assist in this area.

RSC has entered a NATEP funded 18 month programme ‘Treatment the Safe Way’ , where RSC will conduct a series of trials on test components , using aerospace / defence coatings on non-hexavalent metal treatments, we will be constructing processes to ensure we achieve the same results as historic / phased out materials and processes have given.
